Learning Disability Week

Learning Disability Week is celebrated every year in the UK, led by Mencap, usually in June (in 2026 it will be 15–21 June). It raises awareness of the experiences of people with learning disabilities and celebrates inclusion, visibility, and community. Celebrating inclusion, raising awareness, and supporting people with learning disabilities.

Cost-Neutral

• Awareness Screens & Posters: Share key facts, myth-busting info, and positive stories about people with learning disabilities.

• Purple Theme: Encourage staff and tenants to wear purple for the day/week in solidarity.

• Quiet Space Promotion: Highlight any calm/quiet areas in the building that can support neurodiverse needs.

Mid-Range 

• Charity Link: Partner with Mencap or a local learning disability charity to collect donations or showcase their work.

• “Kindness Wall”: Invite tenants to write supportive notes/messages celebrating inclusion, displayed in a communal space.

Top-Range

• Guest Speaker / Workshop: Invite a representative from a learning disability charity to run a lunchtime talk or Q&A.
