the Big Garden Birdwatch is an annual event organised by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) in the UK. It usually takes place over the last weekend of January (2025: 25–27 January). It’s a citizen science initiative where participants count birds in their gardens or nearby green spaces to help monitor bird populations.

Encouraging tenants to observe and count garden birds to support wildlife conservation.

Cost-Neutral

  • Share simple identification tips and fun facts

  • Encourage tenants to count birds from home or the office window and submit their findings to the RSPB.

  •  Provide links to RSPB guides and apps for bird identification.

Mid-Range

  • Set up a small bird feeder or bird seed display in outdoor areas for tenants to watch birds in action.

  • Encourage tenants to take photos of birds spotted in their gardens and share

  • Run a wildlife-themed quiz with small prizes.

Top-Range

  • Invite a local bird expert or conservation group to give a talk or demonstration.

  • Organise a guided walk around nearby green spaces to spot birds collectively.
