Volunteering for the homeless and vulnerable in Reading
LAH Property Marketing’s front of house team at Forbury Place in Reading has been working with a charity that supports homeless and vulnerable people in the town.
Su Dhami and Dion Farrell are volunteering to help Nishkam SWAT (Sikh Welfare and Awareness Team) that is operational twice a week in Reading providing hot meals, drinks, warm clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, toiletries and medical assistance.
Su said "Nishkam SWAT was established in London over a decade ago. It has grown over the years and now gives support for homeless and vulnerable people in Bristol, Oxford, Colchester, Southampton as well as the Thames Valley. The charity provides over 3,000 hot meals each week and has a team of 1000 volunteers.”
Staff and tenants at Forbury Place in Reading can get involved by donating food, organising collections of clothing, volunteering to help with the local outreach service or simply by donating money.
